The American-French Genealogical Society (AFGS) member’s mailing list is for members of AFGS to communicate with each other on genealogical research. The AFGS Members E-mail Mailing list is an E-mail method of communicating. The American-French
Genealogical Society (AFGS) member’s mailing list is for members of AFGS to communicate with each other
on genealogical research. It also will allow AFGS members to discuss the resources available at the society
library and suggest ways to improve the American-French Genealogical Society. Private vs. List Mail When posting a message please use a relevant subject lines this will increase the chance that your message will be noticed. Please ensure the subject adequately indicates message content. Please be selective in what you post or reply to. Re-read your posts before you send them. When replying to a message please decide if it's of general interest to the mailing list first. Posts that do not contribute to the thread content, are aimed at a single individual, or do not contribute to the increased knowledge base of list readers, should be sent by private e-mail to the subscriber(s) concerned. If you think your reply would be of help to someone else on the list, then post it to the entire list. Otherwise, just send it to the original person. Personal messages such as "Thank you" or "I agree", directed to only one person or regarding only one specific post, should be sent privately to the person, *not* to the list. Please quote the section you are replying to. Don't quote the whole original message in a reply, even if your e-mail program does this automatically for you. Edit the quote to the relevant sentence, or a couple of lines. Reply to messages using the same subject line. Informative subject headings are more likely to bring informative replies. Please don't use the list for personal e-mail. Please be polite and considerate to other members. |
